wishing on a bone. wait. that sounds bad.

So,
I had a wishbone from a chicken I baked the week before last. (No;
the one in the picture on the left isn't mine. I found that
picture on stock.xchng.) Since I live alone and don't have much
company, the wishbone sat on the kitchen counter because I had nobody to
break it with. I kind of got tired of seeing it on the counter, so
I picked it up and wondered what would happen if I broke it with myself.
Well,
you know how a wishbone breaks with one side attached to that top piece? And whoever has the piece that is attached to that top piece gets their
wish, right? I figured if I pulled both halves, then I'd surely
get my wish, no matter how it broke. Right??
So,
who in a million years would have expected the top piece to break free
of both halves, fly up in the air, and fall to the floor, leaving me
with two almost equal halves, one in each hand? What does this
mean? Do I get my wish? Is this some sort of cosmic joke?
